Happy Administrative Professionals Day, one and all! If you’re working in an office, may your boss gift you something great today. If you’re working for yourself, don’t forget to spoil yourself just a little. You deserve it! I’m more or less still in the research phase of my budding career. There’s a heck of a lot to learn! Here are some of the places I’ve found that really hit the spot. Becoming a Virtual Assistant (Home Working Mom) This was the first site I looked into, and I felt it a wonderful introduction to the field. This one really points you in the right direction, but it’s really just the bones of your search just to get the initial feel for where to go next. Horkey Handbook I can’t say enough good things about this particular site. The author of the site has this comforting writing style that makes everything she has to say a joy to read. Gearing Up To Get Going

If you’re like me, you are trying to step into a whole new world, which is as exciting as it is terrifying. There are a lot of questions I’ve been asking myself about diving into a Virtual Assisting. Am I ready to be my own boss? Am I disciplined to work on my own? What do I offer to the field that no one else does? What do I need to do to make this into a career? These are all really big and scary thoughts. And it’s okay to have those thoughts, you just have to reason them out. This is what I’ve come up with so far. Am I ready to be my own boss? Yes. I am aware that it will be hard, but I think it will be rewarding. Am I disciplined? Honestly, I’ve worked in a big business for a long time and for the last half I’ve had managers who didn’t micromanage. On a day-to-day basis, I’ve been lucky enough to be able to manage my own day.
